Car converters

If we have to use the laptop in the car while travelling, there may often be a situation where after turning on the computer, it may turn out that the battery requires urgent charging. Then we can return to the interrupted work only after reaching the place and connecting the laptop to the AC 230V socket, but as it turns out - this is not the only solution to the problem. It is enough to use a suitable DC / AC voltage converter that can convert the DC voltage from the car battery to 230V AC. This device allows, among others for the use in the car of chargers for mobile phones, cameras, video cameras and laptops. Because the converters can work both while driving and when stationary, portable TV sets or DVD players can also be connected to them. Converters offered by the Botland store are characterized by compact dimensions and very lightweight, thanks to which they are extremely mobile and do not take up much space in the trunk.

DC/AC converters with the soft-start system.

There are several dozen types of converters of various power available on the Internet. Devices approved for sale must have several safeguards. The most important are overload and short circuit protection. A good inverter must also have thermal protection: in practice, it should operate without failure in a wide temperature range. It must also have a fuse to protect against the connection of the supply voltage in reverse polarity, as well as a system that protects against battery discharge. A standard in currently manufactured voltage converters is also the so-called soft-start system, protecting both the converter and the powered device against overload during startup. Modern converters are characterized by high efficiency, exceeding 85%.

What should you pay attention to when choosing a voltage converter?

When buying a voltage converter, you must necessarily pay attention to the input voltage. In the case of converters for passenger cars and vans, it should be 12 V. Our offer includes devices intended for use in trucks and therefore adapted to the input voltage of 24 V. Once we have chosen the appropriate converter for our car, we must decide what to be its power (we offer converters with a continuous power of 200W, 300W and 500W). In other words, you should consider how many electrical devices it will "handle", and also take into account the capacity of the battery in your car. The latter condition is particularly important when using the inverter in a parking lot: a device with too much power concerning the capacity of the car battery may cause its discharge and the inability to restart the engine. So how to choose a converter? For example, if the battery capacity is 60 Ah, use converters with power from 200W to 300W, and converters with a capacity of 60, 500W.

How to mount a voltage converter in a car?

DC / AC voltage converters are not too small devices and therefore when deciding to mount the converter in the car, it is worth choosing a convenient location. The best places are certainly the spaces under the driver's or passenger's seats, and the trunk is the optimal one. Remember that the converter should be permanently installed so that it does not move uncontrollably while driving. After installing the converter, it must be connected to the car's electrical system. Even though most of the car converters available on the market (mainly with power up to 300 W) have a power plug adapted to the cigarette lighter socket, it is recommended to connect the device directly to the battery. In this way, effective protection of the 12V/24V socket is ensured against failure due to possible overload. Besides, this connection is simply more functional: you will be able to use the inverter and the cigarette lighter at the same time. After making the connection, it is also worth connecting the extension cord to the converter: this will allow the vehicle passengers to conveniently connect electrical devices to it.
