The manufacturer has introduced a number of innovative solutions in the presented add-on, which further increase thecomfort ofusingthe Prusa i3 printers. Newly designed body of the device
Pressure bearings mounted in a rotating drum and a single motor of the extruder, make up the body. This solution allows for the installation of up to five filaments simultaneously. The printing material is delivered and removed from the extruder automatically by means of the filament cutter head equipped with cutting blades.

Innovative filament charging system
Replacing the Bowden system with a direct drive, supplying the selected filament via a single Teflon tube to the extruder, makes it easier to load the filament and prevents it from blocking. The F.I.N.D.A. filament sensor located in the selector head is also newly designed.

The pillar buffer
The buffer allows convenient management of the print material. It prevents the filament from tangling during installation or removal. It allows convenient placement of the spools, which is especially important when printing with several filaments simultaneously.

Make multi-colour models on a 3D printer
The standard accessory of advanced 3D printers sometimes includes a double printhead and a double extruder, allowing models with two filament colours to be produced simultaneously. The Czech manufacturer of printing devices Prusa went one step further and created a solution that allows the use of up to five different filaments simultaneously.
In this way, a set of Multi Material 2S (MMU2S) - for Prusa i3 MK2.5S/MK3S printers - was created for self-assembly. Interestingly, multi-color printing is carried out using still the same single printhead as the Original Prusa i3 MK2.5S/MK3S 3D printers.
Original Prusa i3 - an improvement that impresses
Multi Material 2S kit has a form of an overlay, mounted on the top frame of the device. It uses a single extruder motor as well as a drum with pressure bearings and a selector. Up to five filament bundles - including ABS, PETG or PLA, but also plastics for printing soluble supports - are loaded in parallel.
The Multi Material 2S kit uses direct drive, which has simplified its design and prevented problems during complex projects. When changing the color of the material during printing, the selector automatically cuts off one filament beam and replaces it with another. The F.I.N.D.A. filament sensor is responsible for the efficiency of the extension.
