The VL53L5CX laser distance sensor measures up to 400 cm using the Time-of-Fligh t method via the I2C interface. With it, it is possible to measure the absolute distance of many objects simultaneously in many zones, providing enough data to create a depth map with a resolution of 8x8 . The board is equipped with a voltage regulator of 3.3 V, and its supply voltage can range from 2.8 V to 5.5 V. It is equipped with terminals with a pitch of 2.54 mm. It is not recommended for use with 8-bit microcontrollers like Arduino Uno.

VL53L5CX laser distance sensor measuring in the range from 0.1 cm to 400 cm using the Time-of-Fligh t method via the I2C interface. With it, it is possible to measure the absolute distance of many objects simultaneously in many zones, providing enough data to create a depth map with a resolution of 8x8 . The board is equipped with a voltage regulator of 3.3 V, and its supply voltage can be from 2.8 V to 5.5 V. The leads are popular goldpin connectors that allow you to connect the sensor with wires or directly attach it to the contact plate . The kit includes connectors for self-soldering. It is not recommended for use with 8-bit microcontrollers like Arduino Uno.

Attention!
It is not recommended to use the sensor with 8-bit microcontrollers. Initializing the VL53L5CX and processing the reads requires a significant amount of RAM and code space, making this sensor impractical for use with 8-bit microcontrollers (the ST API for VL53L5CX typically uses over 90K of program memory).

Description of the sensor pins

  • VDD - regulated output voltage of the sensor 3.3 V
  • VIN - module supply voltage in the range of 2.8 V to 5.5 V
  • GND - the ground of the system
  • SDA - data line of the I2C communication interface
  • SCL - clock line of the I2C communication interface
  • LPn - giving a low state will turn off I2C communication, by default pulled up to VDD to activate I2C
  • INT - external interrupt output
  • I2C_RST - specifying high status resets I2C, by default pulled up to GND
