Description

Wi-fi module based on the ESP8266 chip. It works in wi-fi 802.11 b/g/n standard at 2.4 GHz. It has led out connectors of the system (they work with the voltage of 3.3 V), LEDs, switch and built-in USB-UART converter based on FTDI chip, which allows for direct programming of the module using the Arduino environment via the microUSB connector -microUSB cablecan be purchased separately.

The device has a built-in USB-UART converter which provides a direct connection of the board to the computer via microUSB cable and programming using the Arduino IDE - a detailed description is inthe user's guide.

Pins operate at a voltage of 3.3 V so to connect 5 V modules, required is the externalvoltage converter.

Features of the module SparkFun Dev Thing

  • Built-in USB-UART converter based on the FTDI chip that allows programming directly via microUSB slot
  • It has 20 pins that work with a voltage of 3.3 V
    • GPIO pins - digital outputs/inputs
    • UART (TX, RX) interface - for communicating, for example with Arduino
    • Input of the regulator: 5 V - connnected with the power supply of the microUSB connector
    • The I2C bus (the SDA and SCL lines)
  • Mounting: THT:
  • Equipped with built-in PCB antenna
  • It has connector for u.FL for connecting to external antenna
  • Built-in 2 LEDs
    • 1 x connected to pin 5
    • 1 x indicating the power
  • The ability to solder an additional power connector: miniJST pitch of 2 mm
  • Built-in switch allows you to turn off the power supply at any time
  • It has four mounting holes with the 3 mm diameter

Connection

The module has 20 pins led out on both sides of the board. The set does not contain goldpin strap pitch of 2.54 mm, it should be purchased separately and self-soldered.
