Getting ready for upcoming spring? Here are four solid proposals in the new edition of biweekly What’s New at Botland.
Totem Maker Gripper Bot
TotemMaker’s Gripper is a kit for building a car controlled by a mobile app. The manufacturer, Totem Maker, signs it as suitable for use by children aged 6 and up and for assembly by children aged 9 and up, but it will appeal to all car and robotics fans of all ages. The included app works via Bluetooth and allows us to issue commands, including moving loads using the gripper on the front of the vehicle. The Totem Mini Control Board not only implements the controls, but also allows the creative to develop the robot’s functions themselves. The kit meets STEAM standards, introduces knowledge of mechanics and robotics – Gripper incorporates simple, reliable engineering solutions, offers learning about the properties of different materials and teaches alternative use of mechanical components depending on the need and situation.
Lifting up to 60g, it has a speed of up to 0.9 m/s – about 3.5 kilometers per hour, or a walking step. The educational robot is driven by a DC motor with a speed of 200 rpm and a 6V power supply. Battery, charger and all components for assembly included.
IMX477 12.3MPx Arducam camera
Long-awaited, equipped with a 1/2.3″ and 12.3 MPx IMX477 sensor. Compatible with Raspberry Pi, Nvidia Jetson Nano and Xavier NX minicomputers. The module communicates via a CSI-2 connector. The camera comes with a 6mm focal length lens mounted via a CS-mount connector. The camera works with:
- all Nvidia Jetson Nano A02 i B01 versions
- Nvidia Jetson Xavier NX
- Raspberry Pi Zero
- Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3, 3+, 4
Using the USB 3.0 overlay and the MIPI to USB overlay adapter, it is possible to connect the camera to a Windows computer. It offers 60 fps and a pretty good resolution of 4056 x 3040 px. Lafe Rosa LED mirror for women (but not only)

Temperature, humidity, air quality meter – Uni-T A15F
Before we join the fight against toxic smog pollution and air would get clear enough to see the victory on the horizon, it’s worth equipping ourselves with a Uni-T A15F air quality meter designed primarily for home use. It will tell us whether it is worth or necessary to open a window at the moment, because it detects formaldehyde – a harmful component of smog used in the furniture, textile and plastics industries.
In addition, the meter shows on the easy-to-read display the temperature in the range of -10°C to 50°C and air humidity from 0% to 99% RH. Powered by a built-in 1300 mAh battery, the meter weighs only 230 grams.
