Wake me up when September ends – as Green Day punk rock band used to sing. It is exactly the middle of the month and exactly one month since the previous episode of What’s New at Botland, and we have for you few electrifying- as befits electronics and robotics – proposals that will not let you fall asleep in the autumn.
Arduino Portenta H7 Lite
We could not miss our latest release. Portenta H7 Lite is a returner – the well known original board gained trust in industrial and multitasking applications and offers great performance without compromising on the base version and even better fit to developers’ needs. The top (top) side of the board features Arduino MKR-compatible headers, a push button, ESLOV connector, known from Arduino MKR overlays, USB-C port, power management chip, battery connector, QSPI Flash memory and STM32H747 main processor. On the underside was a new set of 80-pin connectors.
Dimensions of 66 x 25.4 mm, operating temperature of (-40)°C to 85 °C ([-40]°F to 185°F) and RST STM32H747XI processor equipped with an Arm® Cortex®-M7 core at up to 480 MHz remain unchanged. Main differences are inon communication, connectors and security solution fields. In H7 Lite version we have Ethernet (PHY, physical layer) without BLE and WiFi that characterized the original. The Lite also lacks the video output and NXP SE0502C2 cryptographic chip of the original – instead, only the ATECC608 microchip remains.
justPi LCD displays – with connectors / without connectors
Are you already familiar with the dedicated accessories for Raspberry Pi from justPi?
justPi was created out of love for the Raspberry Pi platform. All dedicated accessories were created with the minicomputer in mind as fully compatible. Among the latest products, you will find green and blue LCD displays in both connectorized and solder-on versions. Just a simple sorting by the latest products collected in the category and you are ready to choose the most suitable one for you. Just don’t be misled by the Polish characters on the alphanumeric display 🙂
3D printer tuning kits and spare parts
Today’s 3D printer modification kit made it to #1 because… you often ask us about similar accessories. Just as owners of automotive wonders have their own hobbies and love custom spoilers, mufflers and sporty clutches of all kinds, 3D printer upgrades bring equal joy to FDM enthusiasts. Here is a kit that, when it falls into the hands of a maker in love with 3D printing, will allow to create a really solid modification of printer’s hotend.
The modkit primarily fits the Creality Ender and Creality CR 3D printers, and you can probably guess that it was with them in mind that we included it, but the compatibility is broader than that. Here’s the list:
- Creality CR-10 (CR-10, CR-10-S5, CR-10-S4, CR-10S, CR-10 MINI, CR-20, CR-20 Pro),
- Creality Ender (2, 3, 3 V2, 3 Pro, 3 Max, 5, 5 Plus, 5 Pro, 6),
- TronXY X5S,
- TronXY XY2 Pro,
- Tevo Tornado,
- Alfawise U20,
- Lotmaxx SC-10,
- Voxellab Aquila.
Other than replacing the hotend components, installing the kit requires no modifications to your hardware. The unique cooling block for faster heat dissipation allows you to forget about the thermal tube. The thermal break made of Grade 5 titanium alloy provides excellent thermal insulation between the heater and the cooling block. The titanium used and proven is not only an extremely durable material but also has almost three times lower thermal conductivity than stainless steel. All mounting parts are, of course, included in the kit, so no need to rummage through drawers in search of screwdrivers.
Micro Swiss parts for 3D printers
Micro Swiss, our new supplier, stands primarily for direct drive extruders, but there’s surely an appetite for more. Presented models serve the popular CR and Ender models. By the way it’s always a good idea to visit the category of spare parts for 3D printers periodically – every now and then something new appears. Not everything is meant to be flashy there, but the difference in user experience after installing an upgrade can’t go unnoticed.
Ready-to-install extruders like the kit above do not require much modification. Simply connect the extruder to your 3D printer to take full advantage of its capabilities. Made of hardened steel drive components, yet lightweight aluminum body, adjustable filament holder and easy loading are some of the advantages we get with the assembly. You know our rich and precise descriptions, we always write you about the products as much as possible and as much as time allows us – full technical specification of extruders as always to be found at Botland store.
New 2D and 3D laser scanners (LIDAR)
Yujin Robot, South Korean robotics and automation developers with 30 years of experience, showcased 2D & 3D laser scanners this time. Presented 2D models enable scanning of the environment in the horizontal plane of 270°, and in the case of the 3D scanner, we can also measure the vertical plane (90° from -45° to +45°). They work in direct measurement technology ToF (Time of Flight).
Lidar laser scanners are great for use where system detection, navigation and/or anti-collision (indoor) systems are needed. Each kit includes power and Ethernet cables to connect the unit to a computer. On the product pages we have included a brief guide to a simple scanner installation process. And just below that, full technical specifications and useful links.
Looking forward to seeing you at Botland store, and seeing you next month at What’s New at Botland next episode!
