At the time of writing this article, it is the second day since Elon Musk connected Neuralink to a monkey. An important event. Almost as important as our new episode. Welcome to the next episode of News in Botland and enjoy.
New releases are added to the blog every two weeks, right on time every other Friday. And every day we do our best to extend the offer with something fresh for everyone.
Raspberry Pi Pico addons and accessories
One of the first questions we received after the release of the Raspberry Pi Pico miniature module was about the version with soldered connectors. Several days have passed and the Pico family has grown more than we expected. At this point, it’s now over 20 diverse products and kits, and among them are:
Oh – and the Pico with soldered headers is here as well.
Royal Resin epoxy resins and dyes (pigments)
A real revolution is here. These are just so cool and we can already feel its potential. Resins and dyes are the dream equipment for everyone within the decorative industry, for striking jewelry creators and for modelers. Florists, creative woodworkers, interior decorators… any creative artist and crafter will love Royal Resin epoxy resins. They can also be used in electronics. We will surely dedicate a separate article to them soon, because such invigorating , vibrant colors and patterns cannot go unnoticed.
Using Royal Resin is not difficult. It has nothing to do with lab-like sampling in a protective wear or builder’s precision when mixing the slurry. Everything is clearly described. We know how to mix, how much to mix, how to get the desired color, how long to wait.
Resins available in versions:
- Royal Resin Crystal 0.5 kg, 1 kg, 5 kg
- Royal Resin Clear 0,5 kg, 1 kg, 5 kg
The volume (in ml) is given on the packages of the dyes. It’s not the weight – but fortunately, when mixing 1 g of resin, it corresponds here to about 1 ml of colorant.
Do not worry – Royal Resin and Botland will not leave you without the necessary instructions.
Argon ONE M.2 SATA expansion board for Raspberry Pi 4B
The Argon One M.2 is an expansion board for Argon One cases. It allows you to run your Raspberry Pi using an M.2 SATA SSD. This means faster boot up and more capacity. The board accepts any size of M.2 SATA SSD with Key-B or Key-B and M. It also includes support for UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) to speed up transfers. It is especially useful in case of transferring long data blocks. To use the board you will need to replace the Argon One base with the Argon One M.2 expansion. Connection is made at the expense of a single USB connector – preferably 3.0.
Tech specs
- Expansion board for Raspberry Pi 4B and Argon One
- Communication protocol: UASP
- Transfer rate up to 6 Gb/s
- Chipset ASM1153E
- SSD M.2 2280 / 2260 / 2242 / 2230
The kit includes the necessary mounting hardware, user manual in English and of course the adapter itself.
Beamo laser cutters and engravers
High-end equipment to be sure. Beamo, Beambox and Beambox Pro from Flux are cutting machines and engravers for professional use. Fortunately, the thing about professional products is that nobody can prevent us from using them for amateur purposes – it is a pity that it does not work the other way round. The Beamo 30W laser lamp allows cutting and engraving up to 5 mm depth. Her bigger sister Beambox provides a 40W laser lamp and 10 mm deep cutting and engraving. Beambox Pro, the most packed one, comes with a 50W laser power and 12 mm depth when operating in the material.
You can see all Flux solutions under the button below.
Beamo and Beambox have so many features that it would actually make the most sense to simply refer you to the individual product pages for full specifications. Among them are high quality rails, vector and raster modes of 1000 DPI laser with a thickness less than a human hair. You’ll always be able to say you learned about engraving thanks to What’s New at Botland series, but the real life of makers, crafters, and artists happens here.
Along the way, be sure to stop by Beam Studio software and its fantastic capabilities.
Beamo & Beambox ideas
