Devices allowing cutting or engraving in various types of materials, including wood, leather, plastic or aluminum, for quite a long time were associated rather with professional studios. However, not only professional craftsmen and artists can deal with the art of ornament. See how easy it is to cut designs in wood, leather, plastic and rubber – here are low-cost NEJE laser cutters for every wallet.
Laser engraving at home
Various terribly complicated devices and inventions come a long way. From prototypes, through factories and any manufactures (those that are still left), they finally end up in small workshops and finally only as accessories in our homes and offices. In the simplest terms, it has to do with the miniaturization of everything around us and the continuous development of engineering towards consumer variants. First, we need to make sure that we are safe at home with such a machine. An example? Tri-functional Snapmaker and Snapmaker 2.0 bestsellers that brought 3D printing, CNC milling and laser engraving in one straight to our homes.
Laser plotter – what is it?
Let’s first look at how a cutting plotter works. It is based on the principle of a head equipped with a blade that moves over the surface of the material being cut. There are different types of plotters – cutting plotters, flatbed plotters, drum (roller) plotters… just as there are different ways to divide them – by material handling, by application, etc. Each of them have preferred applications, e.g. among stonemasons, glassblowers, polygraphers, bookbinders. Recently, the term “laser engraving machine” or “laser cutting machine” has become popular – if you are wondering what it is all about, it is usually a term for the same thing. Such a computer-controlled laser cutter, or laser plotter, can cut out preset patterns.
Ready for homemade material cutting? Start DIY with NEJE
Homemade and ideal for starting, to be said. Because, let’s not hide it, NEJE are budget machines with limited capabilities. However, working with them gives an interesting insight into what creatives can achieve with engraving and ornamenting for both personal and commercial use.
They look twin similar, don’t they? NEJEs differ in power. The first machine works with an interchangeable laser with a power of 1500 mW and a beam length of 405 nm. The second has a 3000 mW / 405 nm laser at its disposal. The working area of both devices is 38 x 38 x 70 mm – it seems modest, but the through-hole design based only on supporting frames allows you to work with materials of larger dimensions. The device occupies a modest 190 x 160 x 145 mm.
NEJE laser plotters – what can you engrave?
Adorable designs, signatures and images from NEJE decorate:
- wood,
- bamboo,
- plastic
- leather,
- paper,
- rubber.
NEJE – convenience, precision, safety
- NEJE laser engravers use professional processing algorithms to render pixels on a 1:1 scale, with no loss. This means that every small part of the image that is “transferred” to the surface of the object is accurate and the actual design that will be created with our cutter is well rendered.
- The construction is made of durable plastic. There is a button on the top of the housing that allows you to stop the plotter immediately in case of a malfunction.
- The laser head is replaceable in both models – giving us complete freedom in this matter.
- Two ways of communication – USB connector makes it easy to connect to a computer in order to send a file for engraving, Bluetooth 4.0 module allows wireless operation.
- The file format for engraving is any bitmap (.jpg, .png, .bnp) – the ornament can be designed even in simple MS Paint.
- Accessories included with each NEJE laser engraving plotter are simply convenient – an instruction manual, a power supply unit, cables, an Allen key, a dry wipe pen, a silicone pad and samples of engraving materials are all you need to start working.
A laser engraver for makers? Sure thing, it’s like any other home appliances’ device.
In the footsteps of 3D printers for amateur and semi-professional use, which are more and more eagerly chosen all across the world , come laser engravers and similar machines. Now anyone can open a small workshop at home, put the machine right on the desk and get down to DIY work. And while we are on the subject of 3D printing, our partner Creality, known for its 3D printers bestsellers, has recently presented 1600mW Creality Carving Machine CV-01. It’s now available at Botland store.
Botland store is official distributor of Creality 3D printers. Shopping with us is a guarantee of receiving original equipment and quick technical assistance. We also provide professional equipment service and offer original spare parts.
This is already a slightly more serious laser engraving plotter with which we can process paper, bamboo, leather, acrylic and plastic. Due to the fact that Botland is the only official distributor of Creality products in Poland, every novice, professional and maker can count on our professional service and original spare parts.
