SMD 1206 resistors - the way to save space in enclosures
One of the most important issues related to the design of electronic devices is the problem of appropriate placement of components in the housing while saving space. Solving such problems is facilitated by the miniaturization of elements. SMD resistors do not differ in principle from conventional THT resistors but they occupy much smaller area and do not require drilling mounting holes in solder pads.
SMD 47kΩ resistors in an inverting amplifier circuit
The real potential and possibilities of resistors can be explored by using them as auxiliary elements for integrated circuits, such as operational amplifiers. To obtain an inverted-phase signal at the amplifier's output, we connect the non-inverting input of the amplifier to GND, and the inverting input is connected to two 47k resistors - the second output of the resistors is connected to the source of the input signal and the amplifier's output respectively. To avoid overdriving (clipping the peaks) of the output signal, the power supply voltage of the amplifier must be higher than the peaks of the signals it operates on.
