The module allows you to remember 17 additional sounds.

Possibilities of using the voice recognition module

The voice recognition module from the manufacturer DFRobot allows you to control devices by voice, without the need to connect to the Internet. Potential applications for such a sensor include: Smart Home devices, toys, robots, and voice assistants. The additional functionality offered by the Gravity module may be particularly useful in these cases: the ability to remember new voice commands and wake up the device with a dedicated sequence by voice. The 17 sounds that the sensor can remember do not have to include only words and their compounds, but any sounds, such as a dog barking. Thanks to the built-in loudspeaker , our device can actively respond to the user's spoken sentences.

I have 9 of these in my house. All connected to rpis. The serial connection works well, the i2c hangs after some hours. One rpi has 3 of them connected through usb to serial converters. They point in 3 different directions. The python program is a little complicated. I only use the preprogrammed phrases They open doors on off lights open close curtains etc. I had to replace replace 2 that went into a state that made them unusable. It would be nice to have a reset command. I can recommend these sensors but you need programming skills to really use them.

Works great. The available software is currently "unfortunately" only for ESP32/Raspberry etc. It would be nice if it would also work with RS232 on the PC. I will have to adjust that. But it's not bad, the part is top. It understands the input perfectly. Never have I ever had the answer: I'm sorry, Bawwy. I don't understand "wecommend a westauwant.", despite relatively bad pronunciation😄

The fixed commands are only 10-20% usable. e.g. "Par a Car" "Forget" what to do with it. The user-specific words are sometimes not recognized or incorrectly recognized. "Wohn" and "Gang" is a.) not always detected at least 20% and confused at least 10%. I..e. I say "Wohn turn on the light" and the light in the hallway sometimes comes on. Then he doesn't recognize "Gang" for a while, then I have to get up. In principle, it's a good approach, but there should be a lot more user-specific words

Speech recognition without the cloud can be used for many simple applications. This component works great on an ESP. 👍️

Let's make it short................... Positive: -Hard-programmed wakeword "Hello Robot" works very well even with music at room volume in the background. -Freely programmable commands work just as well. -Very amazing for such an offline module with this limited computing power. Negative: -You can forget about the freely programmable wakeword! Only works about 10 minutes after teach-in, After that, not at all. Only if the hard-programmed wakeword is said beforehand works also the freely programmed again for a short time. In the meantime, regular programmatic Waking up or resetting the module only brings limited improvement (random waltz!). Probably a firmware error, according to the forum it has been known for a long time but DFrobot does nothing. -The 17 freely programmable commands must all be taught at once one after the other, with each must be repeated three times. Adds up to 51 voice entries! If you make a mistake, you have to do everything and start all over again. This also applies if you want to change a single command afterwards! So practically only useful for a few commands. -The hard-coded commands are practically all more or less useless. Except possibly Volume Up and Volume Down, which changes the volume of the built-in speaker. If someone can live with it, then you can recommend it.

With raspberry pi: Serial interface works fine. i2c interface does not, blocks interface after some hours, requires power cycle. Voice recognition is good, but needs to be directed to the speaker. I use 2 in larger rooms. I really like that everything is local, no internet usage what so ever. And ~15$€ is hard to beat
