Pine64 minicomputers offer excellent computing performance and a number of possibilities not found in the vast majority of other models of SBC modules. While a significant number of popular minicomputers use microSD cards or (which is somewhat less common) optional eMMC modules as a "hard drive", the Pine64 series devices allow you to connect a full-fledged M.2 drive or one or two SATA3 drives. Expanding the computer with additional modules, however, is associated with a significant increase in power consumption. Therefore, Pine64 designers have provided for the possibility of powering the Quartz64 Model-A and ROCKPro64 modules with a powerful 12 V power supply. But how to choose the right power supply model for a specific application?

In a standard installation, the Pine64 minicomputer can work under the control of an operating system loaded on a microSD card or eMMC module. In this case, the current consumption of the minicomputer should not exceed 3 A - so this is the recommended current capacity of the 12 V power supply cooperating with the minicomputer. Before connecting, of course, pay attention to the correct polarity of the plug and its size - the socket on the PCB of the Pine64 Quartz64 Model-A or ROCKPro64 modules has a size of DC 5.5/2.1 mm. However, it is possible to connect additional disks to the minicomputer, communicating with the processor via the SATA3 interface (for this purpose, use a passive adapter, PCI-E, available in our offer in the category Accessories for Pine64). If you decide to choose this option or connect other "power-hungry" devices to the main module (M.2 SSD, displays powered by DSI, etc.), we strongly recommend using a more powerful power supply with a current efficiency of 5 A. The exceptions are Pinebook laptops, available in the offer of the same brand - the devices use power supplies equipped with DC 3.5/1.35 mm plugs and have different output parameters (5 A / 3 A).
Also check out our other accessories for Pine64 - among them you will find microSD cards, eMMC modules, PCI-E adapters for M.2 and SATA3 drives, as well as heat sinks, fans and high-quality housings. In separate categories you will also find a wide selection of cables and accessories necessary to work with minicomputers (USB mice and keyboards, micro SD card readers and many others).
