Since the already famous Arduino tiles appeared on the market in 2005, when in the following years we could get to know better and better components (including Arduino Uno R3 and many others), many things have become simpler. Currently, programmable electronics is entering the second stage of popularization. You can create not only small devices, but even an advanced robot for yourself. The devices presented in this and in many other categories of our online store are used both by individual electronics enthusiasts as well as by large companies and scientific laboratories.

Here, you can compare and buy the perfect Grove overlay. When creating more complex projects that use a large number of wires, sensor devices or LEDs, it is easy to make a mistake, especially for a beginner. However, to avoid it and for the whole project to be successful, it is worth considering buying an additional Grove base overlay. Thanks to this, you can easily organize all processes in the project. You will connect some additional modules to another tile, and the next one to another Grove base tile. Remember that the Grove tiles presented here are 100% compatible with Arduino!
Grove Base Shield V2 – versatile functionality, easy and safe operations
As you can see, in this category you will find plenty of Grove tiles. Some allow you to connect sensors and other Grove series modules. Still others will give you the opportunity to enlarge your electronic project, providing a base for expansion. Still others will regulate lighting, voltage levels, operate buttons, and even allow you to enter GPIO pins.
If you're wondering what Grove base plate to choose, it's definitely worth paying attention to Grove Base Shield V2. This board is the famous successor to version V1.3. It is a practical solution as a connection bus for Grove modules. It gives the opportunity to create complex projects in a much simpler way than before!
The female connector system in blue is compatible with Arduino boards and dedicated Arduino Shield modules. In case of incorrect connection of external modules to Base Shield connectors, your design will not work, but otherwise there will be no damage. Depending on the type of the external module and its function, connect the board to the connectors intended for this purpose located on the Base Shield board.
Grove base tiles and types of connectors
The above mentioned connectors can be divided into many different types. When choosing a tile, you should familiarize yourself with their functionality. The connectors A0 - A3 are analog inputs of the analog-to-digital converter and allow the connection of a potentiometer module or a microphone. In turn, connectors D2 - D8 allow you to connect devices receiving or sending logic states (low or high) such as relays, LEDs (connected through a resistor) or buttons. Logic connector No. 1 marked "UART" enables connection to a serial interface in Arduino. In addition, the D3, D5 and D6 connectors allow you to generate a PWM signal with which you can proportionally control the speed of the electric motor and the brightness of the LED. There are of course many more possibilities. It is worth adding that the LCD display module should be connected to the connector marked "I2C". In addition to the green LED, the Grove base caps have a built-in RESET button for Arduino and a jumper for choosing the supply voltage (3.3V or 5.0V). Thanks to this, you choose the type of voltage yourself!
Not only Arduino – the GrovePi+ base overlay for Raspberry Pi!
Thanks to the GrovePi + base overlay you can connect up to 15 Grove modules to the Raspberry Pi. The cover is compatible with Raspberry Pi A, B and B + models, and its connection to the Raspberry Pi does not require soldering or indirect connection via contact plates. Like the Grove overlays for Arduino systems, the manufacturer focused on maximum functionality and simplicity.
You can start programming as soon as the tiles are connected together. In our offer you will find more than 100 different external modules of the Grove series, which through the GrovePi + overlay you can control using the Raspberry Pi. The overlay supports communication via UART and SPI interfaces and allows easy connection of camera modules and LCD display as well as easy update of dedicated software.
Having the youngest Raspberry users in mind, manufacturer of Grove systems, Seeed Studio, designed the GrovePi Zero base overlay. It's a tile that will make prototyping noticeably faster and easier. Thanks to this, you will be able to easily create, develop and run your projects in a short time, including IoT projects. In many cases, you will not have to use contact plates and additional cables. You can connect all Grove series modules to the base overlay. Full compatibility is maintained. Devices such as distance sensors, light and temperature sensors, humidity sensors, as well as buttons and displays will fit.
