How to perform soldering? A hot air soldering station will be indispensable
A hot air soldering station is a very practical tool for any electronics technician. This kind of equipment creates completely new possibilities of work. First of all, it is perfect for laboratories, where it is often necessary to desolder electronic components made in SMD technology. During such an operation with the use of soldering irons it is very easy to damage a delicate component. Too long heating time can lead to damage to an electronic component, in turn, too short heating time can cause only partial melting of the solder - as a result, when the component is lifted, connections can be damaged. A hotair soldering iron is ideal for this type of task. Heated air will quickly melt the solder, and the electronics technician can then easily remove the electronic component from the circuit board (using tweezers, for example). The situation is similar when soldering SMD components. Small amounts of tin can be left on the prepared places on the PCB. Then position the electronic components to be soldered precisely on them and finally direct the hotair nozzle so that the legs sink into the solder. The hot air soldering iron is also used when installing heat shrink covers on wires. After setting the right temperature and blowing force, just point the nozzle at the right place for a few seconds and the cover will be ready.
Less standard applications for hot air soldering irons
A skilled electronics technician can often find additional, less standard uses for tools like a hot air soldering station. One of these may be to disinfect the area for new solders. Of course, it is necessary to carefully verify the information before the operation, whether directing a stream of hot air to a certain surface will not cause damage to it, for example, completely melting an important part made of plastic. The ability to burn or melt certain materials with a hotair soldering iron can be useful in another situation - for example, when an electronics technician intends to remove paint or other coating from a metal surface.
