Legendary family of ultra-low power 16-bit microcontrollers – MSP430

MSP430 is a custom-designed family of 16-bit RISC microcontrollers developed by Texas Instruments. The broad portfolio of MSP430 MCUs is dedicated for ultra-low power applications in various industry branches – from wearable and mobile devices to wireless sensor networks, remote metering and portable medical & measurement appliances. The processors utilize a bunch of low-power modes, ultra-fast wakeup from standby mode and a comprehensive set of peripherals, including various analog-to-digital converters, analog comparators, D/A converters, flexible timers with PWM outputs as well as multi-channel capacitive touch controllers, direct LCD drivers and different types of serial interfaces (enhanced UART with auto baudrate detection feature, IrDA, SPI and I2C). In-system programming can be done by simple, low I/O count debug interface called Spy-Bi-Wire. MSP430 processors are available in many types of packages, including SMT (TSSOP, QFN and so on) as well as PDIP – the last option is highly recommended for education and evaluation purposes, allowing simple replacement of MCU while using the same development board. TIVA C - high performance ARM Cortex-M4 MCUs from Texas Instruments

These are 32-bit microcontrollers with built-in USB controller and rich set of analog and digital peripherals. The TM4C123GH6PM processor can work at clock frequency of up to 80 MHz and contains 256 kB of Flash memory and 32 kB of RAM.
