Product description: SC09 2.3kg Serial Bus Servo - UART servo - Waveshare 24440
SC09 2.3 kg Serial Bus Servo is a servo from Waveshare with a torque of up to 2.3 kg*cm , with a supply voltage of 6 V. The servo can operate in two modes: a servo with a range of movements of up to 300° and a motor with a range of movements of 360 ° . The input voltage ranges from 4.8 V to 8.4 V , and the current consumed when the servo is locked is 1 A. The UART communication interface allows for simple communication and connection with other devices on one bus - up to 254 addresses. The rotation speed is up to 0.1 s / 60°, i.e. approximately 100 RPM for 6 V power supply.
The manufacturer has also prepared a detailed user's guide , which makes working with the servo much easier.
Main features of the SC09 servo
- Torque of 2.3 kg*cm allows for wide use of the servo mechanism, e.g. in walking robots.
- Precision gears made of copper and steel, offering improved performance and durability while ensuring quiet operation.
- Possibility to work in servo and motor mode - in servo mode we can rotate 300°, and in motor mode - a full 360°.
- Measurement of servo operating parameters - reading the current position, rotation speed, load and input voltage helps, among others: when controlling more advanced robots.
- Communication via the serial bus - UART - allows serial connection of up to 254 devices.
How to use a servo?
A servomechanism is the most generally closed control system, containing an actuator element (in the case of the SC09 servo - a rotary motor) and a measuring system (potentiometer). Thanks to the use of feedback, we are not limited to controlling the speed and direction of movement, but we can set a specific position of the servo and it will maintain it.
Many popular servo systems use PWM for control, and the signal duty ratio means a given angle. In the case of the SC09 servo, a UART serial interface is used, which allows you to simultaneously control up to 254 devices on one bus, as well as download current information about their operation.
