Product description: Omron relay module 1 channel - 5.5A / 230VAC contacts - 3V Qwiic I2C coil - SparkFun COM-15093
SparkFun relay is a product that can be used to control power circuits such as lights or motors. It has an I2C interface to control the relay with Arduino or Raspberry Pi and has two Qwiic connectors. The default I2C address of the module is 0x18, which can be changed with a simple command to control even more than 100 relays on one bus (remember that there may be voltage spikes with a 3.3 V supply, so it is recommended to use a separate power supply to power the relays). Additionally, the board has a jumper to switch the address to 0x19. The Omron G5LE coil is powered by 3V DC. The terminal clamps of the relay are rated for 240V and 5.5A and are safe for use in most countries. The board is equipped with many protections, including increased ground insulation between the load and the control voltage, and an air gap around the COM contact has been added. The paths between the NC / NO / COM terminals have been doubled to increase the maximum current.
The manufacturer has prepared a guide guide that makes it much easier to start working with the module. You can also find the Arduino library with sample code .
Relay module pins
The module is equipped with an Omron G5LE relay, which is supplied with a voltage of 3 V. On the board, you can find two Qwiic connectors, which greatly facilitate connection with the board with the same connector standard. In addition to Qwiic, you can also find standard 2.54 mm pitch to which you can solder wires or a goldpin pin strip.
- GND - the ground of the system
- 3.3V - supply voltage 3.3V
- SDA - data line of the I2C bus
- SCL - clock line of the I2C bus
- NO - normally open circuit
- COM - common circuit
- NC - normally closed circuit
