QWIIC - standard for connecting devices to the I2C interface
QWIIC is a module connection standard developed by SparkFun . It allows the connection of sensors, actuators, screens, cables, etc. using the I2C interface. All modules are equipped with 4-pin connectors to facilitate connection and prevent incorrect connection.
The most important benefits of using QWIIC standard are
- No soldering between modules supporting QWIIC - no need to use 4 separate wires. Just use one QWIIC cable
- Polarized connectors prevent incorrect connection - 4-pin connector prevents reverse connection. Now there is no problem in wondering where to connect the SDA and SCL, and there is no mistake in GND and VCC wires.
- Chain connection for fast bus expansion - most QWIIC modules have a second connector to connect more boards.
The QWIIC connector has a 1 mm raster to save space on the prototype board. The standard can be used for any device with an I2C interface. For this purpose an appropriate adapter should be used, e.g. JST - QWIIC.
In our offer you will find many products supporting QWIIC standard, e.g:
- Qwiic overlay for Arduino
-
Qwiic Mux Breakout - 8-channel module with I2C multiplexer - TCA9548A
-
VL53L1X time-of-flight - I2C distance and ambient light sensor
- AS7263 NIR - visible light spectrum sensor
