Question: Im planning to get into smart homes for good, but Im annoyed by the "thousands" of Zigbee gateways. Does this device (together with Home Assistant) allow you to connect multiple devices that support the Zigbee protocol without the need to use manufacturers gateways?

REMARK! Remember that it works EITHER Zigbee OR Thread, not all at once. I use Zigbee. According to online knowledge, it also supports Zigbee2MQTT. It works perfectly with Home Assistant on Raspberry Pi 5. No coverage issues, instant detection by HA. Easy setup and adding new devices. In addition, you can support HA creators, which is a big plus for me. I eliminated the Aqara M3 gateway and now the data from the sensors does not fly through Chinese servers, but everything is local.

I'm using HomeAssistant in a Docker container. I have nearly 100 devices in the Zigbee network (Zigbee2MQTT), using a simple Sonoff dongle, some of them have low LQI despite the placement of sockets acting as amplifiers. I bought the ZBT-2 with the idea that it would improve my range and connection quality. Coverage has actually improved and all devices have reported an LQI above 5-. But it turns out that the ZBT-2 has huge hardware issues in my setup. Already when connected to a computer, the device is full of errors such as "unable to get device address". Unfortunately, when you try to connect to more than one device at once, you get the error "ASH disconnected | Adapter status: ASH_NCP_FATAL_ERROR" and the device falls into a soft-brick state. Sometimes it helps to physically unplug the dongle for a few minutes, and sometimes you need a factory reset or re-upload of the firmware to get it to work again. If a plug pops up or there is a power outage (which happens to me), the whole network crashes and requires a lot of work to put it back on. It's not a question of the copy, because I tested it on several devices (even from different sellers) and it was the same every time.
