Good boards based mainly on AVR microcontrollers can often be found in production halls, in professional design studios, academic laboratories or even field applications. However, these are mostly prototype and test applications, or simple devices used only by their creators to perform certain tasks - Arduino was not designed for industrial or commercial use scenarios, so it does not have the necessary protections (e.g. against ESD discharges), support for industrial communication buses (e.g. RS485) or inputs/outputs enabling connection with other devices used in automation. Arduino Opta - a new quality on the PLC market
Arduino Opta differs from what has been associated with the Italian brand at first glance. Instead of a "bare" PCB with goldpin connectors, in this case we are dealing with a ready-made device in a DIN rail housing. Inside, there is also a big surprise waiting for us - 8-bit AVRs and even simple ARM microcontrollers give way to the dual-core STM32H747XI processor, supporting the most advanced real-time control and data acquisition applications. And all this in three versions: Opta Lite (with Ethernet + USB C), Opta RS485 (with a differential transceiver for wired communication with other devices, e.g. inverters or operator panels) and Opta WiFi (version with built-in WiFi + BLE module) ). Each Arduino Opta controller has 8 configurable analog/digital inputs and four 250 VAC/10A rated relays. It is worth noting that for the controllers - developed in close cooperation with the Finder company - a dedicated programming environment was also created, enabling the creation of programs using the ladder "language", which is a standard in the world of industrial automation.
