Connectivity refers to all the processes and techniques that make it possible to establish a reliable connection between separate electrical or electronic systems. It is useful for both energy and data transmission. Represented by connectors (sometimes called plugs and sockets) connectivity is omnipresent in our lives. Connectors can be used, for example, to connect our household appliances to the power grid or to communicate the various components of our information systems, including audio or video systems. Connectors are typically placed in cable ferrules or directly on electronic boards. The challenge for manufacturers of connectors is to maximize the standardization of connections in order to facilitate their use, but without the expense of the power or functionality of the devices. It is also important to limit the risk of connection errors that can lead to short circuits by integrating coding systems. Here in our Botland store we have prepared many subcategories of connectors that can be further filtered to facilitate your search.

A small but irreplaceable technically advanced electronic element
The connector should be easy to use, enable quick installation and ensure a durable, effective and safe connection of wires (cables). It is also supposed to guarantee insulation between the pins, often work in difficult conditions, and their design is to protect against vibrations, extreme temperatures, dirt, water and contaminants.
Electrical connectors - additional information
When designing connectors, their properties are adapted to the applications and specifications. The properties of the connector contacts are also taken into account: their resistance, pressure force, protection and the number of connection and disconnection cycles. The price of the connection itself is also an important parameter.
That's why specialists from the Botland store have collected such a wide range of connectors, hoping that everyone will find exactly what they are looking for. In the connectors section (sockets, tapes and cubes) you can find, among others: pin sockets - goldpin , DC sockets and plugs , jumpers and electrical pins and many others.
Safe electrical installation, or what to pay attention to when choosing a connector
Mainly on:
1. Application : the connector must have the appropriate number of signal pins, number of power pins and configuration (board-to-board, wire-to-wire, board-to-wire).
2. Speed of installation and ease of use : connectors must be easy and quick to install.
3. Electrical specifications : You need to know the total number of signals, the transmitted voltage, frequency and current, and the type of signal (digital, analog, power signal or a combination thereof).
4. Amount of available space : i.e. the size of the connector itself.
Due to the constant tendency to reduce the size of almost all types of electronic devices, the connectors themselves are also becoming smaller.
Remember that if you use electronic components whose outputs or pinout raster are not compatible with the breadboard or system elements used, you can always use appropriate adapters or expanders.
5. Environmental conditions : will the connector operate under normal conditions or will it be exposed to vibration, extreme temperatures, pollution, water, dirt…? (In this case, it may be necessary to ensure the tightness of the joint)
6. Standards : does the connector have to meet specific standards?
7. Reliability : some connectors are connected/disconnected very rarely, for others it happens so often that their specifications include the MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure) or MTTF (Mean Time To Failure) parameter, i.e. the average time without failure work.
8. Termination Type : Terminations connect the pins of a connector or socket to the wire. There are several different types of terminations: crimped, soldered, press fit, quick connectors, ARK connectors, etc. Each of them has its advantages and disadvantages, and the manufacturing technology largely determines the quality of the connection and its durability.
9. Durability and safety of the connection : many connectors are exposed to shocks and vibrations (e.g. in automation). Therefore, in such situations it is good to use spring connectors or ARK connectors.
If you have any questions or doubts, you can always count on the Botland store employees. We will select the appropriate connector for your project. Welcome to purchase!
Connectors - FAQ
Currently, most dedicated graphics cards are equipped with HDMI, DisplayPort and DVI connectors. However, you can still find models with the old analog VGA output , used, for example, to connect some multimedia projectors.
Laptop power supplies use various varieties of circular or (in the case of Lenovo computers) rectangular DC connectors . ATX power supplies used in desktop computers are equipped with multi-pin Molex connectors.
The cost of replacing the charging connector depends on the type and degree of damage to the printed circuit board - desoldering the old connector and installing a new connector on an undamaged board will in each case be much cheaper than trying to repair additional damage to the PCB traces.
Some types of industrial circular connectors, such as jack sockets , use nuts to fasten the element in the opening of the housing panel. If the dimensions (depth) of the connector and the nut allow it, a socket wrench can be used to fasten it.
Older devices equipped with a parallel PATA (Parallel ATA) interface, also known as IDE, used Molex power connectors (4-pin, with a key in the form of beveled corners of the connector body).
Wireless network cards (WiFi) use SMA coaxial connectors to connect an external antenna, while wired cards (LAN, Ethernet) are equipped with RJ45 sockets (8P8C).
You can find various types of connectors in TV tuners - in addition to the antenna socket, these are most often HDMI and SCART (EURO), chinch sockets (audio, analog video) and in some cases also USB A (for connecting external memory) or RJ45 (Ethernet).
Old type CRT monitors (equipped with a cathode ray tube) used analog image inputs in the VGA standard, supported by 15-pin, 3-row D-Sub female sockets.
Modern LCD screens most often use HDMI connectors and the slightly older DVI standard, although you can also find models equipped with DisplayPort, and even… VGA (mainly in the case of monitors with a small diagonal).
Most modern computer monitors are equipped with "digital" HDMI and DVI connectors, but less often there are DisplayPort connectors and analog VGA inputs. Some models also have a built-in USB hub and even an audio input (3.5 mm jack) for built-in speakers.
