Manufacturers of minicomputers and accessories dedicated to them managed to get us used to the fact that for each series of SBC main modules there are dedicated housings, usually not matching either earlier or later generations of devices from the same manufacturer. Modifications usually result from (often small) shifting of individual connectors or even changing their type (e.g. in the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, the USB C power socket was used for the first time, which replaced the previously used microUSB). What if you designed one universal case for many families of competing minicomputers, and changed only the front panels with openings and connector descriptions? This is the approach taken by the designers from Seeedstudio, creating the reComputer housing - the upper and lower parts of the housing are unchanged elements, and depending on the minicomputer used, only the front panels need to be replaced. Not only that - even the height of the housing can be easily adapted to the needs of a given project, thanks to the additional central frame, which allows you to raise the lid by a few centimeters, necessary, for example, to place additional overlays or a hard drive inside the box.
