The Raspberry Pi is a series of single-plate microcomputers that have been produced since 2012. Their launch on the market caused a great stir among electronics, programming and robotics fans. The devices very quickly became the first choice of many fans of advanced technology, who hobbistically and professionally deal with the construction of electronic and software equipment. Raspberry has a very wide range of applications, which we owe mainly to Hat overlays and adapters, which allow us to expand it freely. They allow for connecting peripheral devices to the board and thus adding extra functionalities. They are useful not only in advanced projects, but also in everyday use. There is a certain number of sockets available in Raspberry, which may not be sufficient in some projects. However, to be able to connect more devices to USB, it is necessary to use special USB hubs. They definitely expand the capabilities of the Raspberry Pi, which we can connect to more external devices.

Increased connectivity to the Raspberry Pi through USB Hubs
In computers, including Raspberry Pi, we can find from 2 to 8 USB connectors. They will be used very soon due to the need for additional accessories that are required to work on the computer. They communicate with the computer using the USB connectors. They include mouse and keyboard, memory card reader, printer and speakers. We will soon find out that up to 8 USB connectors are not enough if we plan to create a multimedia entertainment center or command center for advanced projects and systems. You also need to consider the space in your area of work, which is sometimes limited and makes it difficult to use a large number of peripheral devices. So there are some limitations, which can be overcome if you decide on extra accessories such as USB hubs. Such accessories come in the form of a rail, with a single USB port, but allow you to connect several devices. It is also a good way of powering USB devices, like a smartphone or tablet, which can be charged this way.
USB hubs differ in the number of ports. There are 4 and 7-port hubs available, also with a power supply included. So choose the one that best suits the number of peripherals you would like to connect to your Raspberry Pi. Furthermore, you will find a set with colour backlighting that provides interesting visual effects.
Connect even more devices to your Raspberry Pi
USB hubs differ not only in the number of ports, but also in the type of power supply. This is important because it affects the current performance of the USB connectors on the device. We distinguish between passive USB hubs. They are powered directly from the power bus that is located in your computer. Alternatively there are active USB hubs with their own independent power supply, which in most cases is the power supply. There are models of active USB hubs that are additionally equipped with a special automatics that allows you to switch power from passive to active if necessary. Active Hubs are perfect for higher power requirements when you plan to connect more external devices to the Raspberry Pi. This is due to the limited current capacity of Raspberry. In advanced and highly developed projects it may not be sufficient and thus make the plan impossible. Therefore, with a large number of peripheral devices we recommend using an active USB hub. You will find them in our shop in different variants with the possibility to adjust them to your individual needs, as well as the specificity of the project and the conditions in which they are to work.
Connect even more devices to the Raspberry Pi and enhance its capabilities. Carry out advanced, ambitious projects and gain full flexibility and design freedom with USB hubs dedicated to Raspberry Pi.
