Raspberry Pi 4B - Better efficiency thanks to significant hardware upgrades
The latest model in the series of the most popular single-board computers in the world is called Raspberry Pi 4B. The new minicomputer continues the market success of the Pi 3B and Pi 3B + models. The first change that has occurred in the hardware is the new Broadcom BCM2711 SoC quad-core processor, which is clocked at 1.5GHz. The processor semiconductor structure was designed in the 28nm process node, thanks to which the processor is characterized by even better performance and energy saving. The GPU chip was also placed in one housing with the CPU. Built-in Broadcom Video Core VI graphics processor clocked at a frequency of 500MHz does support image processing at 4K / 60FPS and HD 1080p / 60FPS (30FPS for two monitors hooked up at once). What's more, you can connect to two monitors at the same time. Designers have replaced a single standard HDMI A-type socket with two Micro HDMI D-type sockets. The changes did not bypass USB ports. Now Pi 4B is equipped with two USB 2.0 ports, as well as 2 USB 3.0 ports that allow data transfer at 5Gb / s to a single port. However, the USB connector designed to power the computer has been changed from micro USB type B to USB type C. For the Raspberry Pi 4B to work, connect the power supply with an output voltage of 5.1 and a minimum current efficiency of 3A. Raspberry Pi Foundation offers a dedicated power supply that meets these parameters and is also available for purchase in the Botland store offer. The wireless communication system has not been forgotten either. The built-in Wi-Fi module is dual-band (2.4GHz / 5.0GHz) and complies with the IEEE 802.11 b / g / n / ac standard. The second option of wireless communication is the Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 module, which is an improved version of the Bluetooth 4.2 module known from the Pi 3A + and Pi 3B + models.
Raspberry Pi 4B - What can you use it for?
The Raspberry Pi 4B single-board minicomputer is an amazing tool for every tinkerer, hobbyist and professional electronics designer. It is also really affordable. The Pi 4B board hardware specification ensures compatibility with older Raspberry Pi Foundation products. You can use the Raspberry Pi 4B as a regular PC with a mouse, keyboard, speakers and monitor. However, Pi 4B can not only function as a computer for internet browsing and office work. The built-in 40-pin GPIO connector, which is also found on older Pi models, includes useful communication interfaces such as SPI and I2C. In this way, you can control various physical processes. As an example, you can use Raspberry Pi 4B in robotics, home automation applications, as well as in advanced measuring systems for electrical and non-electrical parameters. In the Botland store offer, Raspberry Pi 4B is available in three versions of RAM memory capacity - 1GB, 2GB and 4GB. If you are going to use your Pi 4B as a computer for office work and surfing the Internet, the best choice is the 4GB version.
