BeagleBone cables: small connector - big resolution
The manufacturer of the BeagleBone series main modules has rightly decided to move away from the popular HDMI connector still found on most laptops, desktop graphics cards and monitors to a miniature micro HDMI connector. Its size does not differ much from the micro USB connector. This solution allowed to save a lot of space on boards which are already full of peripheral devices. However, it requires the use of appropriate cables to connect to typical monitors. Therefore, in our shop you will find various lengths of micro HDMI cables, ending on the other side with a typical, large HDMI connector. Thus, you will be able to enjoy excellent quality video and digital sound without any additional components - as the BeagleBone modules also support audio-video transmission shared via the same connector.
Adapters, extenders
In our shop you will also find many solutions to make your work with BeagleBone much easier. If you already have an HDMI cable with standard sized connectors, a small adapter is all you need. If you already have a standard sized HDMI cable, a small adapter is all you need to connect your USB accessories, or a 1.8 metre long USB A-A extension cable will allow you to use a mouse or keyboard away from your PC. If you have a single monitor that supports multiple computers - including the BeagleBone - use an HDMI switch. This allows you to conveniently switch between devices without having to constantly swap cables.
Connecting the BeagleBone to external modules
Connecting external add-on modules, e.g. relays, sensors or motor controllers, to the BeagleBone main module is straightforward - provided you have the right cables in advance. As most BeagleBone boards come with pre-soldered 2.54mm goldpin sockets, you will need male-to-male or male-to-female cables (depending on which type of connector - male or female - is installed on the board you are connecting) to connect them to other devices. Our online shop offers both kits of single wires as well as assembled ribbon cables with pre-terminated ends. To make prototyping easier we have prepared connection wires sets with different colours and lengths, what will save your device from unnecessarily long wires where much shorter ones will suffice.
