The Aeotec Z-Stick 10 Pro is a universal controller in the form of a USB adapter, combining Z-Wave 800 and ZigBee 3.0 communication and enabling the creation of reliable, local Smart Home systems. The module allows you to build your own, locally hosted gateway . Based on the modern Z-Wave 800 chip, it offers Z-Wave Plus certification, S2 native security, SmartStart , and Long Range support, which in practice means a range of up to approximately 150 m outdoors and up to 1000 m in star-network mode for compatible devices. ZigBee operates in the 2.4 GHz band, with the EFR32MG21 chip, transmitting power of +20 dBm and sensitivity of -99 dBm, enabling a functional network of up to approximately 200 m in open space . The Z-Stick 10 Pro is compatible with popular platforms such as Home Assistant, openHAB, Domoticz, and Z-Wave JS. The Aeotec Z-Stick 10 Pro does not have a built-in battery. Its compact size, wide range, and advanced network management make it a great solution for beginners, DIY enthusiasts, and advanced home automation installers alike. Z-Stick 10 Pro Setup
Installing the Z-Stick 10 Pro is simple and intuitive, allowing you to quickly get your smart home up and running. The main steps include:
- Connecting to a device: Insert the Z‑Stick 10 Pro into a USB port on your Windows, Linux, Raspberry Pi, or miniPC. The device will automatically be detected as a serial port (USB CDC).
- Platform Selection: Choose the right platform to manage your smart home, such as Raspberry Pi , Windows, Linux, etc.
- Software selection: Install a management app such as Home Assistant, Domoticz, OpenHAB or HomeSeer to configure and control Z‑Wave and ZigBee devices.
- Scanning devices: After launching the software and detecting the adapter, start searching for devices in pairing mode (inclusion mode).
- Adding and configuring devices: Once scanning is complete, add selected devices to your Z-Wave network and configure them according to your preferences, e.g. by setting schedules, creating scenarios, or remotely controlling devices.
