Product description: PiMoroni Inky Impression HAT - e-paper display 4'' 640x400px - 7 colors - overlay for Raspberry Pi - PiMoroni PIM600
HAT overlay e-paper display for Raspberry Pi minicomputer. The screen diagonal is 4" and the resolution is 640 x 400 px. The e-paper can display the image in 7 ACeP colors: black, white, red, green, blue, yellow and orange. The spacing between individual pixels is 0.135 x 0.135 mm. The display features a wide viewing angle and ultra-low power consumption. The E-paper consumes power only during screen refresh. It uses an I2C interface to communicate, via the 40-pin GPIO connectors of a Raspberry Pi minicomputer.
Multicolor EPD displays use electrophoresis to move colored particles up and down on the display. The colored particles reflect light, unlike most types of displays, which means that the image is visible even in bright light. It takes about 30 seconds to refresh the display. The display board also has I2C pins pinned out for connecting other devices that use this interface, and four buttons on the side of the board. The Inky Impression display works with any 40-pin version of the Raspberry Pi.
Inky Impression e-paper display software
The manufacturer has prepared a Python library for Raspberry Pi that eliminates the burden of displaying text and images in Inky Impression. Several new examples have also been prepared to demonstrate the capabilities of Inky Impression. A one-line installer for the Python library has also been prepared, for ease of installation:
