Two EFR32MG24 radios in one gateway
SMLIGHT SLZB-MR5U is a gateway with two Silicon Labs EFR32MG24 radio chips that work simultaneously on separate channels. One radio handles the ZigBee 3.0 network, and the other handles the Thread network on which Matter devices run.
The gateway connects to your network via Ethernet and can be powered over PoE, that is, through the same network cable. This lets you place it in a spot with good coverage, away from the Home Assistant server. Power from USB Type-C works as an alternative.

Choose your firmware
The gateway ships with SLZB-OS, but the manufacturer also provides a browser-based flasher that lets you install alternative firmware, e.g. ESPHome. SMLIGHT also publishes lighter, open-source core firmware under the MIT license.

Does it work with Home Assistant?
Yes. The gateway works with ZHA, Zigbee2MQTT and the native SMLIGHT integration in Home Assistant.
Does it support Matter?
Yes, over the Thread network. The gateway has a built-in Thread Border Router (OTBR) that you can use to add Matter devices.
How do I update the gateway?
You can update the firmware of both radios and the processor remotely (OTA) from the SLZB-OS panel.
