Heating resistors - heat from electricity
The generation of heat through the operation of electrical and electronic devices is usually a natural side effect of their design. In the case of resistors, electrical energy is converted into heat and this is a direct consequence of Ohm's law and Joule-Lenz law.
The heat power dissipated in a resistance is proportional to the square of the current flowing through the resistor. This property can be practically used, among others, in district heating systems, where the key function is performed by specially designed heating resistors.
Application of heating resistors in servicing electronics
Audio amplifiers are devices that, at the expense of electricity, amplify the sound signal that is delivered to the speaker coils and converted into vibrations of the diaphragm.
Typically, when testing and servicing audio amplifiers, test signal generators are used to apply a long-lasting signal to the input of the amplifier to help diagnose the amplifier.
