Product description: Load beam 10 kg - pressure sensor with hook and bar - HX711 - SparkFun SEN-21669
Strain gauge beam from SparkFun allowing you to measure loads up to 10 kg per signal. The offered model is equipped with special hooks that enable the beam to be hung. In addition, it also includes a signal converter with a built-in HX711 chip. Strain gauge beams are widely used in many areas, including weighing elements, measuring force, generally understood materials testing, monitoring structures (especially stresses and strains) and many others. The advantages of strain gauge beams include accuracy, repeatability and the ability to detect very small changes in force. Depending on the work environment, temperature sensitivity may be an issue.
How does a strain gauge beam work?
A strain gauge beam, also known as a pressure force sensor (or simply a strain gauge), is used to measure force by changing electrical resistance. The basic mechanism of operation is based on the use of piezoresistive materials, i.e. materials that change their resistance under the influence of mechanical stress. In practice, thin wires or metal foil applied to a substrate are often used to create a strain gauge beam. Would you like to create a project based on combining a strain gauge beam and Arduino? Our offer also includes other strain gauge beams - check them out!
