Product description: HiFiBerry Amp3 60W class D amplifier for Raspberry Pi

HiFiBerry Amp3 is a speaker amplifier in the form of an overlay for Raspberry Pi minicomputers. The overlay is equipped with a class D amplifier with a maximum power of 60 W. Amp3 can work with all types of speakers or impedance from 4 Ohm to 8 Ohm. Supports sampling rates ranging from 44.1kHz to 192kHz (16-bit to 32-bit). The supply voltage is from 8 V to 24 V. The Raspberry Pi does not require additional power supply, the minicomputer is powered through the overlay. For operation with speakers with an impedance of 4 Ohm, the manufacturer recommends using a voltage of 12 V to 20 V. A higher voltage is recommended only for speakers with an impedance of 8 Ohm. However, the best choice for 8 Ohm speakers will be a voltage in the range from 18 V to 20 V. The shield works with minicomputers Raspberry Pi 4B / 3B+ / 3B / Zero 2 W / Zero W / Zero. For proper operation, a Linux system with a kernel version of min. 5.15.24.

Current efficiency HiFiBerry Amp3

The HiFiBerry Amp3 class D amplifier can be powered with a voltage in the range from 8 V to 24 V. Its current efficiency also allows you to simultaneously power the Raspberry Pi 4B minicomputer along with low-consumption accessories, such as. e.g. mouse or keyboard . The problem may be the power supply of other USB devices, such as a hard drive. Connecting devices requiring higher current efficiency to USB ports or GPIO connectors may result in the system not starting or causing unstable operation.
