Product description: Polol U3V12F12 - 12V 1.4A step-up converter
A controller that increases the voltage from 2.5 to 12 V to a constant value of 12 V. The efficiency of the inverter is 80 - 90 % depending on the specified input voltage. We also offer modules from this series with 5 V, 9 Vand12 V output voltages.
U3V12F12 inverter outputs
The module has three outputs:
- VIN- input voltage from 2.5V to 12V, please pay attention toshort voltage pulses that can damage the system
- GND- mass potential
- VOUT -output voltage
The connectors are properly signed on the board. Output Raster 2.54 mm - popular goldpin connectors, allow to mount the module in acontactboardorconnect it with wires.
Efficiency of the system
Efficiency is defined as the ratio of output power to input power (Power out)/(Power in). This is a very important parameter when working with portable energysources(batteries and accumulators), where the time of operation on one charging cycle counts. The efficiency of this pulse system is about 80% - 90%. The output current depends on the input voltage. Details are available on the chart:
Efficiency of the system and output current at 12V output voltage.
Dangerous voltage pulses
When connecting the power supply to the module, dangerous, short, high amplitude eclectic pulses may occur(so-called pins)that could permanently damage the system. Polol's tests show that for voltages above 10V, the pins may have an amplitude of over 20V. In order to protect against this undesirable phenomenon it is recommended to solder a capacitor of at least 33uF as close as possible to the pins supplyingthe converter.

U3V12F12 - 12V 1.4A step-up 12V 1.4A - Polol 2117
A step-up DC voltage converter operates on the principle of increasing the input voltage at the inverter output. The design of the converter is similar to that of a DC voltage supply unit. The efficiency of the inverter is between 80% and 90%. The current efficiency of the inverter depends on the input voltage, the output voltage and the efficiency of the inverter. The maximum input current consumption is 1.4A. The presented model of the inverter allows to obtain 12V output voltage. We also offer other variants of this converter, which differ in terms of output voltage level, i.e. 5V and 9V. The minimum voltage that must be given to the input to start the inverter is 2.5V. Built-in thermal protection prevents damage to the inverter due to overheating.
Step-up converter - the easiest way to increase DC voltage
In the case of AC electrical circuits, it is sufficient to use a transformer to change the voltage levels (including to increase the voltage). On the other hand, the voltage increase in DC circuits is a slightly more complex process and requires the involvement of semiconductor elements. The Polol 2117 converter uses only a few passive RLC elements and a specialized ISL85410 chip based on N-MOSFET transistors, which provides stable voltage at the converter output. Such an inverter can be used, among others, to build wireless devices requiring an extensive power supply system.
