Description
RedBoard Turbo is fully compatible with popular Arduino Uno module. This means that it can be programmed through the Arduino IDE using available libraries. The so-called Arduino Shields also collaborate with SparkFun module. Thanks to the SDA, SCL and IOREF connectors, board will be compatible with future shields.
RedBoard Turbo uses ATSAMD21G18, which is a 32-bitmicrocontrollerARM Cortex M0+, which can work with frequency up to 48 MHz. RedBoard Turbo similar toSMD21 Dev Breakthrough, with a few enhancements. RedBoard Turbo increases flash memory from 256 KB of internal memory up to 4 MB of internal memory. Thanks to UF2 bootloader,RedBoard Turbo is even easier to program than before. The pins on the board are compatible withArduino Uno. The module is supported bythe ArduinoIDE and libraries for Arduino Zero.

Board combines the simplicity of Arduino Uno along with the stability of the connection of the chips from the FTDI series. On board is the Atmega328 microcontroller with the distribution of pins compatible with Arduino Uno. Changes that you may notice when using the module, are:
- MiniUSB connector - the large USB-B connector was replaced by a small convenient miniUSB slotr
- The FTDI chip - for communication with the computer used was a tested and stable FT232 module
- The color of the board was changed from blue to red
In order to start Redboard Turbo, you need to connect the system to the computer using the miniUSB cable and install FTDI drivers. Then, in the Arduino IDE, choose the Arduino Uno board. |
Power
The module can be powered via the miniUSB cable and the external device, for example, the AC adapter, the battery or the rechargeable battery. Switching power sources is automatic. The power supply is connected to a standard DC slot. Rechargeable battery or other source should be connected to the pins of the POWER connector.

Arduino Uno vs. RedBoard
The similarity | Differences |
---|---|
The choice of board in the Arduino environment - for both systems, in the options select the Uno module. |
USB - UART converter - Uno has Atmega16u4 system with the appropriate software, on RedBoard is a special FTDI FT232 chip. |
Digital and analog pins - both plates have the same number of pins located in the identical way. |
Arduino Board is manufactured with the THT, RedBoard was made in the SMD - soldered on surface. |
Operating voltage - both modules operate with voltages of 5 V and have a built-in 3.3 V voltage regulator. |
