Product description: ACS724 current sensor -2.5 A to +2.5 A - Pololu 4040
The ACS724 current sensor module is an electronic component from Pololu that has been designed to precisely measure current in the range from -2.5 A to 2.5 A , using the Hall effect . The sensor has an analog output centered at 2.5 V, which generates an analog voltage of 800 mV / 1 A. The module operates in the voltage range from 4.5 V to 5.5 V with a preferred voltage of 5 V , provides a low internal resistance of the conductive path of approximately 1.2 mΩ and has electrical insulation up to 2.4 kV RMS. Additionally, a 120 kHz passband ensures fast responses in control applications. The module offers flexible connection options, allowing you to solder the wires directly or use solderless connectors.
Main features of the sensor
- It allows precise measurement of bidirectional currents in the range from -2.5 A to 2.5 A
- It offers a low current path resistance of approximately 1.2 mΩ, which results in low power losses
- Provides electrical insulation up to 2.4 kV RMS
- Generates an output voltage proportional to the input current - 800 mV / A for a supply voltage of 5 V
- It operates on a passband of 120 kHz
- It operates in a voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V, with 5V being the preferred voltage
- Enables direct soldering of wires to the sensor or use of solderless connectors
Current sensor applications
The Pololu current sensor is an ideal solution for monitoring current , e.g. in various types of power supply systems, data acquisition systems, security systems or motor control. Its ability to measure currents in both directions makes it a very versatile tool in electronics.
Current sensor pins
- IP+ (Positive Current Input) : A pin intended to be connected to the positive side of a circuit carrying current in order to monitor it.
- IP- (negative current input) : a pin intended to be connected to the negative side of a circuit through which current flows for the purpose of monitoring it.
- VCC (logic power supply) : used to connect the supply voltage for the current sensor measurement system. The supply voltage should be between 4.5 V and 5.5 V.
- OUT : output of the system from which an analog voltage proportional to the measured current is read. This signal can be further processed or used for direct current monitoring.
- GND : system ground.
