List of products by brand Onion IoT
The expansion of the "Internet of Things" (IoT) from the predictions of futurists and dreams of IT enthusiasts has become a fact. Today, not only large corporations producing integrated circuits - e.g. ST Microelectronics, Microchip or Texas Instruments - extend their offer for the needs of intelligent, networked devices. There are more and more companies in the market, which address their products both to amateurs, building their own smart home installations, as well as companies fully professional dealing with the Internet of Things. A great example of a brand that has completely dedicated itself to this field is Onion IoT.

Onion IoT - everything you need for your IoT project
Onion IoT was founded in 2014 from a startup developed at a business gas pedal in Boston. The brand's flagship product is Omega2 miniature modules, which act as ready-to-build computers equipped with the necessary communication interfaces, GPIO lines and strong software support in the form of a specially crafted Linux distribution - LEDE (Linux Embedded Development Environment), based on the well-known and popular OpenWRT system. The choice is not accidental - no other Penguin distribution has been created with such strong support for comprehensive support of Internet data transmission. What is very important, Onion IoT modules can be programmed in virtually any programming language - the list of supported environments is impressive and includes "classical" languages such as C, C++ and Python, as well as those focused on network applications - PHP, NodeJS or Perl. The boards can also be programmed in Shell or even the less popular Ruby. Interestingly, the operating system installed by default on the Onion IoT includes a ready-to-use server, thanks to which the board can be communicated via... a regular web browser.
Onion IoT minicomputers offer in Botland store
We know very well how important for every embedded base module is a good hardware support in the form of dedicated, 100% compatible accessories and overlays. That's why we have included both base boards - Onion Omega 2 WiFi and Onion Omega 2 Plus Wifi - as well as a range of official expansion modules in our offer. The first of the mentioned products runs on Mediatek MT7688 processor, clocked at 580 MHz and offers 64 MB of RAM and 16 MB of non-volatile Flash memory. The second - Plus version - has twice as much capacity (128 MB RAM / 32 MB Flash), so it can easily "handle" even the most complex tasks. Both boards are available with 2mm goldpipes - the connectors are pre-soldered for convenience, so you can use the module straight out of the box. Very importantly, the Omega series boards have built-in SMD antennas, which eliminates the problem of connecting an external antenna (although a coaxial socket is provided for this, too).
Accessories for Onion IoT
Among compatible accessories you'll find Onion Arduino Dock, which is a kind of "Arduino clone", hardware compatible with the original Italian Arduino Uno board, but additionally containing connectors for plugging in one of the Omega 2 modules and communicating it with the ATmega328 processor via UART serial interface. Additionally, there is a USB A socket on the board, which means that peripheral devices such as a flash drive can be connected to the module. Other interesting examples of shields for Onion minicomputer are products such as Onion RFID Expansion module (extending the capabilities of the base board with NFC communication in 13.56 MHz band) or Onion ADC Expansion with 16-bit ADC and three Grove type connectors. Both mentioned products can be connected to Onion Omega 2 board usingOnion Expansion Dock or Onion Arduino Dock. We also offer modules with 0.96" OLED display, Onion Relay Expansion with two electromagnetic relays or Onion Ethernet Expansion, which extends functionality of the board with Ethernet connector.
