Product description: DFRobot DC 12 V 160RPM motor with worm gearbox
Metal worm gear motor for strength and high torque of 2.2 kg*cm (0.21 Nm). Supply voltage is 12V and speed is 160 rpm. The worm gearbox provides the motor withself-locking capability.

Worm gear motor 1:37.3
High quality, small drive unit consisting of a DC motor and a factory installed worm gearbox. Ideal for driving small mobile robots, manipulators and a variety of mechanisms for other applications (e.g. home automation).
The nominal supply voltage of the motor is 12 V, with a tolerable voltage range of 6..15 V. Current consumption ranges from about 35 mA (no load) to 1 A (with the shaft stopped) - typical operating current is about 180 mA.
Mechanical parameters
The DFRobot DC 12V 160RPM worm gear motor with a gear ratio of 1:37.3 reaches a speed of up to 160 rpm (at idling speed); the rated speed is 128 rpm. Rated torque is 0.55 kg*cm and increases to 2.2 kg*cm with the shaft locked. The whole is 77 x 26 x 32 mm and weighs 160 g.
A big advantage of the presented motor is the fact that it uses a worm gear and not - popular in other model drives - planetary or ordinary gear. It is precisely this type of gearbox that has an important advantage that distinguishes it from other methods of transmission: it is self-locking, which means that an attempt to rotate the output shaft "by force" does not cause movement of the remaining elements of the gearbox. Only the drive from the motor itself can move the sprocket and the worm.
