Product description: E-paper E-Ink touch display - 2,9'' 296x128px - SPI/I2C - black and white - for Raspberry Pi - Waveshare 19967
Touchscreen display made by Waveshare ine-papertechnologywith diagonal of2,9'' and resolution of 296x 128 px. The screen works with any 40-pin version ofRaspberry Pi, and can also be used with Arduino and STM32. The image is displayed in two colors: black and white. The module usesSPIandI2Cinterfaces for communication. The e-paper technology makes this type of display suitable for use in e-book and electronic magazine readers.
The manufacturer provides aproduct wikipage that contains information about the module's pinouts and a user guide.
Touchscreen e-paper display for Raspberry Pi. The item for sale is the e-paper display, the Raspberry Pi minicomputer can be purchased separately.
Main features of the e-paper display
- 2.9" screen with 296 x 128 px resolution and capacitive touch
- Supports 5 touch points, user-defined screen wake-up gesture
- No backlight, retains last displayed image for long time after power disconnection
- Ultra low power consumption, power is only required to refresh the screen
- SPI / I2C interface
- Works with any 40-pin version of Raspberry Pi
- Also works with boards like Arduino and STM32
What is an e-paper?
The e-paper displays work based on electrophoretic microcapsule technology: charged particles suspended in a transparent liquid move to the sides of the microcapsule when an electric field is applied, making the microcapsule visible by reflecting ambient light, just like traditional printed paper. The e-paper display clearly displays images/text in lamplight or natural light, requires no backlight, and has a viewing angle of nearly 170°. This type of display is usually used in e-book readers because of its paper-like effect.
Pinouts of the e-paper display
A display module in the form of an overlay for direct connection to a Raspberry Pi. It uses pins like:
- VCC - supply voltage 3,3 V / 5 V
- GND - ground
- DIN - MOSI pin of SPI bus
- CLK - pin SCK of SPI bus
- CS - SPI chip selection, activated by low state
- DC - data / commands pin (high for data, low for commands)
- ERST - external reset, activated by low state
- BUSY - busy state output, activated with high state
- INT - touch controller interrupt pin
- SCL - touch controller I2C bus clock pin
- SDA - touch controller I2C bus data pin
- TRST - touch controller reset, activated by low state
- EN - power supply activation for the touch controller (optional), activated by a high state
