Product description: RP2040-Matrix - board with RP2040 microcontroller and 5 x 5 LED matrix - Waveshare 24594
RP2040-Matrix from Waveshare is a board with a built-in 5 x 5 RGB LED matrix , which is used to create eye-friendly visual effects. It also has 20 GPIO pins , thanks to which you can expand the board with additional modules and functions. The built-in RP2040 system contains a dual-core ARM Cortex M0+ processor clocked at up to 133 MHz, 264 kB of SRAM memory and 2 MB of Flash memory . The microcontroller has the ability to connect to various devices using the available USB Type-C port and is compatible with the MicroPython and C/C++ SDK Raspberry Pi programming languages.
The manufacturer has prepared a detailed user guide that makes it easier to start working with the module.
The RP2040-Matrix has a 5 x 5 RGB LED matrix.
Special features of the tile
- Includes a 5 x 5 RGB LED matrix to create visual effects
- It has a built-in RP2040 chip with a dual-core ARM Cortex M0+ 133 MHz processor, 264 kB SRAM and 2 MB Flash memory.
- It allows you to expand the functionality of the module thanks to 20 GPIO pins
- Communicates with other devices via USB Type C
- It offers to switch to sleep mode
- It is equipped with UART, SPI and I2C interfaces that enable communication with various peripheral devices
Touching the LEDs while the matrix is working is not recommended because it may result in possible burns and damage to the LEDs themselves.
Arrangement of elements on the board
- USB Type-C connector
- 5 x 5 RGB LED matrix
- BOOT button
- Reset button
- LDO voltage stabilizer RT9013-33GB, maximum current 500 mA
- W25Q16JVUXIQ, 2 MB NOR-Flash
- Dual core RP2040 processor, operating frequency up to 133MHz
The current consumption of a fully turned on RGB LED array is approximately 350 mA and therefore it is recommended to use a power adapter with a power of at least 500 mA to ensure adequate power supply to the board and avoid power shortage problems.
