The Scale Kit with Weight Unit consists of four pressure sensors - half-bridge strain gauges, a 24-bit analog-to-digital converter with the HX711 system in the form of a Unit extension, a Grove cable and a mounting tape. The mentioned elements in combination with the M5Stack development module and the stand can serve as an IoT-based precision scale. The total weighing range is 200 kgs .

Strain gauge principle of operation
Strain gauges are the main element of every electronic balance. As a rule, they are placed under supports or overlays to ensure an even load. In measuring technology, strain gauges generally work in the so-called bridge, the most common is the Wheatshone bridge. The principle of the strain gauge is to measure the stress and resistance that are exerted by the pressure of the weighed element.
For the Scale Kit with Weight Unit to work properly, it is necessary to use a module with a microcontroller (e.g. M5Stack Core, M5Stack Core2, M5Atom, M5StickC, M5StickC Plus, CoreInk or M5Paper - to be purchased separately) and two overlays / sockets (e.g. acrylic) with a length of side not more than 50 cm.
