Thermal tape or thermal paste?
The thermal paste allows you to control the thickness of the applied layer and more accurately fills microscopic irregularities on the heat sink surface, which ensures better thermal conductivity. However, the paste is more difficult to apply precisely than thermal tape, and it does not work very well when you need to fill a larger space. In such a case, it will be more practical to use tape or thermal pads, i.e. special pads of different thickness, intended for placing between more distant elements. The conductive substance is usually silicone, silver or ceramic.
What to pay attention to when shopping?
The basic parameter should be selecting the appropriate thermal conductivity value - a higher value usually means a more effective product, although it is difficult to clearly compare the thermal conductivity values of, for example, thermal paste and thermal conductive tape. If you choose a tape or a thermal pad, it is also worth paying attention to the compressibility (what is the minimum and maximum gap between the elements where the tape is to be placed), as well as the presence of glue and its composition. It is very important to determine the current conduction parameters - most pastes and tapes are insulators, but it is worth checking this before purchasing to avoid a possible short circuit. When using paste to connect a heat dissipating element, you also need to pay attention to its composition, because some pastes may cause corrosion of individual heat sinks (for example, paste with copper particles should not be applied to aluminum parts).
Thermal conductive pastes and tapes - Botland - Shop for roboticists
In this section, we offer thermal pastes, thermal pads and thermal tapes from manufacturers such as OdSeven, TermoPasty and others. We offer, among others: pastes in syringes, whose design and method of operation facilitate precise application even in hard-to-reach places. Depending on the specific product, the syringe contains 3 g or 25 g of paste. We also offer thermally conductive tapes in various sizes, from 80 mm x 80 mm, 30 mm x 30 mm, 25 mm x 25 mm to 20 mm x 20 mm. The dimensions of the thermopads are 20 mm x 130 mm.
