Product description: Battery charge meter Li-Pol / Li-Ion - MAX17048 - STEMMA JST PH & QT / Qwiic - Adafruit 5580

Compact meter based on the MAX17048 chip, which allows you to monitor the charge level of single-target Li-Pol and Li-Ion packets with a voltage ranging from 3.7 V to 4.2 V. The board communicates with the main module using the I2C bus. In addition, it is equipped with two Qwiic connectors, with which you can quickly connect it to a module equipped with the same connectors. The battery is connected to the JST connector with a pitch of 2 mm. The set also includes a 1x6 pin goldpin strip, which allows for an alternative connection using soldering pads.

The product is compatible with Arduino and Raspberry Pi!

The manufacturer has also prepared a user guide , which makes it much easier to start working with the module.

Reading the measurement

The meter measures the battery voltage using the MAX17048 chip and converts the voltage value into a percentage indicator of the battery capacity, which greatly facilitates the recognition of its charge level. The MAX17048 chip has an algorithm that continuously monitors the battery pack, ensuring a much higher measurement accuracy than a regular ADC.

Qwiic connection system

The Qwiic ecosystem is a system simple and quick connection of sensors , actuators, overlays and I2C cables, which is not very prone to errors. Modules equipped with a Qwiic connector have a 4-pin JST connector with a pitch of 1 mm . Thanks to this solution, the connector does not take up much space on the board and prevents the plug from being connected in the opposite way, minimizing the risk of making a mistake when connecting the wires.
