Product description: 3pi+ Hyper Edition Kit - Robot build kit with 32U4 controller and 15:1 HPCB motors - Pololu 4977
A complete 3pi+ robot platform in Hyper Edition version which includes a 32U4 based controller and micro HPCB DC motors with 15:1 gearing. Designed to be self-assembled and soldered. Hyper Edition Kit is designed for more advanced users. It includes two DC HPCB motors with 15:1 gearing and encoders, a number of integrated sensors (including a 3-axis accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer), bounce sensors located on the underside of the platform, a collision sensor, a 128 x 64 OLED graphic display, LED indicators and more. The diameter of the robot is 9.7 cm and the average movement rate is about 4 m/s.
The 3pi+ robot in the Hyper Edition version requires self-assembly, including soldering. The robot is intended for more advanced users due to the difficulty of programming and easy to damage components. The manufacturer recommends keeping the speed of the motors below 50% in this version. The kit comes with a spare motor gearbox - manual.
3pi+ Hyper Edition Kit - a kit for building a robot with 32U4 controller and HPCB 15:1 motors - Pololu 4977.
3pi+ from Pololu - advanced robot for DIY assembly
The 3pi+ robot from Pololu is equipped with a main board based on the ATmega32U4 chip. It also features a microUSB connector for programming the board and an Arduino compatible bootloader. For programming use the USB - microUSB cable (not included). The robot can be programmed in Arduino IDE environment using available libraries. Additional ports, designed for more advanced users, allow to connect additional accessories. The board also includes an H-bridge and encoders for controlling DC motors, as well as a 3-axis accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer, 5 IR reflective sensors for detecting surface edges, and right and left collision sensors. The user also gets three buttons for any use, an OLED display, a buzzer, and status LEDs.
What is needed to get started with the robot?
Additional items required that are not included:
- Four AAA batteries - the robot works with alkaline batteries and Ni-MH batteries, the manufacturer recommends using Ni-MH batteries.
- MicroUSB cable - required to connect the robot to a computer for programming and debugging.
