Product description: Zumo 32U4 - minisumo robot building kit with OLED - Pololu 4990
DIY kit to assemble Pololu Zumo 32u4 fighting minisumo robot. The robot is based on ATmega32u4 microcontroller with Arduino bootloader uploaded, programming is done via microUSB port, through Arduino IDE environment. The Zumo robot has a small OLED screen, line tracking sensors, ultrasonic distance sensors, accelerometer, compass and gyroscope. The kit does not come with micro DC motors, these must be purchased separately. To start playing just insert the batteries - four big sticks.
The kit does not include DC micro motors, they must be purchased separately.
Pololu Zumo 32u4 robot motherboard
The Pololu Zumo 32u4 motherboard is based on the ATmega32u4 chip, also used in the Pololu A-Star boards. An Arduino bootloader has been uploaded to the microcontroller, and the robot is programmed using a microUSB cable and the Arduino IDE environment. In addition to the built-in microcontroller, the platform also features: four ultrasonic distance sensors, a line tracking sensor array, a dual motor controller with encoders, OLED display, buzzer, accelerometer, compass and gyroscope.
Kit contents
The kit consists of elements for self-assembly, it contains electronic and mechanical components necessary for proper functioning of the robot. The user has at his disposal
- strip with reflective sensors - for detecting the edge of the ring (dohyo),
- integrated motor driver - two channel H-bridge DRV8838,
- simple sound generator - piezo buzzer,
- 3-axis digital accelerometer with magnetometer - can be used as a system to detect collisions with opponents,
- 3-axis L3GD20H digital gyroscope - for angular velocity measurement (detection of robot rotation),
- a button at the user's disposal, which can be used, for example, to select the start-up mode,
- a small OLED display with a resolution of 128 x 64 px,
- a voltage stabilizing inverter using four AA batteries,
- detailed user guide available on-line,
- Arduino libraries for all the above electronic components
Dimensions of Zumo robot platform
ThePololu Zumo is a fighting robot platform. It has been designed in such a way that the outline of the assembled structure fits into a 10 x 10 cm square, which is in accordance with the international rules of robot fighting.
Additional elements
Thanks to the main board based on ATmega32u4, various additional elements extending the capabilities of the robot can be used. The user can use, for example, a sensor to detect the opponent in the ring. For this purpose, optical sensors or ultrasonic sonar can be used.
