Attention! Product replaced by a new version: Zumov1.2 - minisumo robot - KIT for Arduino |
The set includes
- 1 xMain board with connector for Arduino (ArduinoShield)
- 1 xChassis(without engines)
- 1 xMetal plough
Description
A set of elements for the construction of a minisumo robot based on the Arduino - Uno or Leonardo controller. The set includes:a main plate withthe possibility of connecting Arduino, a chassis with caterpillars and a plough - a bumper to fight other robots. The robot also requires:a pair ofmicro seriesengines, fourAAbatteries and Arduino module.
The kit does not include engines. They can bepurchased separatelywith the chosen gear. |
Motherboard
A controller allowing to build a minisumo fighting robot based on the popular Arduino - Uno or Leonardo module. It has, among others: a two-channel motor controller, voltage regulator, and a 3-axis accelerometer. Exact description of the main board: link.
Chassis .
A set of mechanical parts for building a minisumo class robot chassis. The set includes: crawlers, battery cage and mounting plate. Exact description of mechanical parts: link.
Plough
The set also includes a metal plough, a bumper for fighting other robots. Exact description and dimensions:link.
Dimensions
The Zumo robot has been designed so that the outline of the assembled structure fits into a 10 x 10 cm square, which is in accordance with international robot fighting regulations.
Required components
The following components were not included in the kit to leave the choice to the designer. He can select the parameters of the motors to suit his own needs and choose the corresponding Arduino version. Besides, the user can use elements that already have for example the popular Arduino module.
Polol company provides a whole series ofmicro motors with gears. They differ in power and the gear ratio used. The most popular among the constructors of combat robots are HighPower versions with 30:1 and 50:1 gear ratio.

Four AA batteries
Four alkaline AAbatteries(large fingers) are required to power the robot. We recommend usingNiMH rechargeable batteries,as they are rechargeable.
-
Arduino module
The set works with both Uno and Leonardo versions. Older models with the same layout of outputs, e.g. Arduino Duemilanove, are also compatible.
Optional elements
In addition to the above mentioned elements required for the operation of the robot, the user can select additional components. These are
It allows to detect a white line on the edge of the ring. With the appropriate software, the robot can stop before falling outside the permitted area.
It allows for repeated use of NiMH batteries.
Optical elements to detect where the enemy is.Digital sensors with a range of 40cmare most often used. Their advantages are small size and speed of measurement.
