Product description: UGV02 - 6-wheeled robot chassis with drive and ESP32 controller - Waveshare 25077
UGV02 is an advanced chassis of a mobile off-road robot from Waveshare , which has 6 attached 4-wheel drive wheels and is great at overcoming more difficult terrain obstacles. The robot has rubber tires , thanks to which the entire structure can better withstand heavier loads and has better shock absorption while driving. It is compatible with Raspberry Pi and Jetson Nano minicomputers , which can be connected to the vehicle via the UART or I2C serial port to expand its functions in terms of control, processing data from sensors and cameras, etc. The chassis includes an advanced driver board with a built-in ESP32 chip , which, among other things, provides WiFi and Bluetooth communication and controls servomechanisms using PWM (Pulse Width Modulation).
The manufacturer has prepared a user's guide that makes it easier to start working with the product.
Main features of the robot chassis
- It has 6 attached wheels with rubber tires and 4-wheel drive
- It is great at overcoming obstacles in off-road conditions
- It contains a controller with a built-in ESP32 chip, which enables, among other things, wireless WiFi and Bluetooth communication
- It is compatible with Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano and Jetson Orin Nano minicomputers
- Supports the popular JSON data exchange format
- Enables product expansion using the built-in 40-pin connector
- It provides control of the robot's servomechanisms using PWM pulse width modulation
- It allows you to adjust the appropriate speed of the robot and allows you to control the direction of rotation
Support for JSON data exchange format
The UGV02 robot chassis provides interaction with the device using commands of the popular JSON data exchange format, which allows you to control the robot's movement, speed, direction and automates the sequence of performing its tasks. The robot can download commands both remotely via a web application and via direct UART communication.
Control of servomechanisms using PWM
The robot controller with a built-in ESP32 system supports the control of servomechanisms using PWM signals, thanks to which it allows you to freely adjust parameters such as rotation angle or speed. This provides the ability to construct complex movements and manipulations of the robot.
Remote access to the web application
The built-in controller with the ESP32 system allows you to remotely control the robot by creating your own WiFi hotspot. Access to the web interface is available in a web browser at 192.168.4.1. Users can control the robot with directional buttons and adjust the speed, as well as send commands in JSON format to manage various functions.
The process of setting up and connecting to a WiFi hotspot is described in detail in the guide in the UGV02 Basic Use section.

Attention! Before using the product for the first time, you must purchase and install three 18650 batteries yourself. When you connect them for the first time, check whether the LED is lit. If so, it means that the batteries are incorrectly connected (plus to minus and minus to plus) and they need to be placed the other way around, because charging them in the wrong configuration is dangerous and may cause an explosion.
