Basic ways of connecting SMD resistors
When connecting two or more resistors together, their resulting resistance changes. Moreover, its value depends not only on the resistance of individual resistors, but also on the way they are connected. If we connect two SMD 1206 120kΩ resistors in series, their total resistance will be the sum of their resistances, i.e. 240kΩ. In turn the parallel connection is the reciprocal of the sum of reciprocals of these resistors. Then with such a connection, their equivalent resistance is 60kΩ.
SMD 1206 120kΩ resistor in a circuit with a choke
During switching in electrical circuits, transients occur, during which currents and voltages tend to reach steady-state values. Such phenomena can be observed by building a simple circuit consisting of a resistor with resistance of 120kΩ and a choke with inductance of 1mH. Connecting such a circuit to a DC voltage, the current reaches its steady-state value after a time period of about 2.49 μs - 4.15 μs. If, on the other hand, we replace the inductance of the inductor with 470μH, the duration of the transient will be reduced more than twice.
