Volumio is a project born from the initiative of true music lovers - music lovers. It was created at the end of 2013 from the need to create a device that allows you to skip PCs when streaming music via web interfaces. It is primarily about a dedicated tool that will make it possible to extract the best possible sound quality. It's a project that allowed you to build your own audiophile music player. The Volumio team is made up of people united by the same passion and mission - to research and improve audio systems that will allow users to fully absorb their favorite music.
Volumio - an offer for music lovers
One of the most important Volumio products is Volumio Primo player. It is a unique player enclosed in a simple and elegant form, but designed for the most demanding customers - true audiophiles. The device is capable of playing music via Internet streaming platforms. It is equipped with ASUS Tinkerboard S control unit and a large set of sockets for connecting inputs and outputs of various sources and receivers, including 4 USB ports, HDMI, Gigabit Network, analog output (2 x cinch), digital output (S/PDIF), Wi-Fi antenna connector. The device is prepared to play music in various formats and ways of its transmission - it supports among others MP3 files, Hi-Resolution flacs, Internet radio, DSD and most of all streaming music, for example from services such as TIDAL and Qobuz. By installing appropriate plug-ins, it is also possible to play music directly from Spotify, Tunein Radio or YouTube.
Design of the Volumio Primo
The Volumio Primo works thanks to its thoughtful design and high-quality materials. The core components of the device include a voltage isolator, matched low noise voltage regulators, a low dropout voltage regulator, a high precision clock oscillator, a DAC microcontroller, a USB bus, and 2 GB of RAM. The device runs using Volumio, a Linux-based operating system. The source code of the software is open, so any user can make their own improvements - if they prove helpful to others, they can share their solution with them.
