An assembled version of the 3pi+ Standard Edition advanced robot platform from Pololu. The robot is equipped with two MP DC motors with 30:1 gearing and a controller based on the ATmega32U4 chip. Pololu 3pi+ also features 9DoF sensors, IR reflective sensors for line detection, collision sensors (located in the front of the casing), a 128 x 64 px OLED graphic display, a buzzer and a power switch. The Standard Edition version has motors with 30:1 gearing and encoders that allow the robot to move at a speed of 1.5 m/s.
3pi+ robot accessories
The 9.7 cm diameter robot platform contains a controller based on the ATmega32U4 chip. The controller board is equipped with microUSB interface for programming and Arduino compatible bootloader. In order to program the robot use microUSB - USB cable (not included). The robot can be programmed in Arduino IDE environment, free libraries and sample codes for Arduino are also available. For more advanced users, additional ports are available, through which the robot can be expanded and additional accessories can be connected. The board also includes an H-bridge for motor control and sensors, along with encoders. Among the sensors we find: 3-axis accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer, 5 IR reflective sensors to detect surface edges, as well as right and left collision sensors, three buttons for any user use, OLED display, buzzer and status LEDs.
What is needed to get started with the robot?
- Four AAA batteries - 3Pi+ works with alkaline batteries and Ni-MH batteries, the manufacturer recommends using Ni-MH batteries.
- MicroUSB cable - required to connect the robot to a computer for programming and debugging.
