Product description: Programmable temperature controller - TEC-8A-24V-PID-HC-RS232
Digital, programmable temperature controller with the possibility of changing parameters and reading them using the UART port. It is designed to work with12 Vthermocouples (Peltiercells)and all modules from 5 Vto 24 V.It works inPWMmode, can control Peltier cells with capacity up to 8 A. It has a built-in10 kΩNTC thermistor,the defaulttemperature is set to 20°C. The controller is equipped withRS232interface. It has an open collector type output for use as a signal for other devices.

Thanks to the possibility of settingPID controllerparameters, the controller can be adapted to almost any system. A properly configured controller is able to maintain the set temperature with an accuracy of+/- 0.05°C.When the SJ1 jumper is not shorted, the UART port can be used to read the temperature setpoint and PID parameters. To read the temperature value usetheBETA3950thermistor, the regulation is made by means of four potentiometers. The potentiometers are used to set PID parameters and operating temperature.

After the SJ1 jumper is shorted, control of the controller is available. With the help of a USB - RS232 converter and a PC it is possible totransfer and read the parametersto / from the controller. In this mode it is not possible to use potentiometers, but it is possible to fully control each parameter. Additionally, it is possible to set the lower / upper threshold, which is checked by the controller.
Controller outputs
The device is equipped withRS232interface, data from it can be read by a PC anda USB-RS232 converter. The module is poweredfrom 5 V to 24 V.
Connect the TXD pin to RXD, RXD to TXD and GND to GND. For connection, we recommend cables with aminimumcross-sectionof 0.5 mm2.
The current flowing through the Peltier cell depends on the power supply used. Most popular modules are supplied with voltage from 12 V to 15 V and the maximum current is specified by the cell symbol. For example, the symbol 12708 means power supply from 0 V to 12 V, and the maximum current that can flow through it is 8 A.
