Description
MaKey MaKey allows you to create a computer keyboard with... Anything :) The set consists of a mainboard with a mini USB socket and crocodile cables. The module is started by connecting the device to the computer and connecting an alternative keyboard with wires. Operation of MaKey MaKey is well shown in the video below.
The deluxe version includes all elements from the basic set and additional crocodile cables and a roll of copper tape. |
Application and operation
With MaKey MaKey you can be a banana pianist or create playing stairs. It also allows you to build a video game control device. The chip uses high switching resistance to detect connections, so it doesn't have any problems handling high resistance elements like pasta, leaves or human skin. The ATMega32u4 uses HID (Human Interface Device) protocol for communication, which in practice means that the system is seen as a traditional keyboard and mouse.
The board has six main inputs with the possibility of connecting crocodile wires (included in the set) or solder other, arbitrary cables. On the reverse side there are another 12 inputs - 6 with functions of keyboard buttons, 6 for computer mouse. In case the user wants to change default assigned keys, the layout can be configured using Arduino IDE environment. This version has improvedfirmware.
