What's new in version A+?
- 40 GPIO pins instead of 26.
- The device has a smaller size.
- Slot for SD cards was changed to the slot for micro SD.
- There is a new regulator step-down for voltages 3.3 V and 1.8 V.
- Improved sound quality.
- Composite slot (NTSC/PAL) is integrated with four field connector jack 3.5 mm.
- Four mounting holes were attached.
- Changed was the placement of the connectors, the previous cases will not fit.
- Added was reverse polarity protection of the supply voltage.
Raspberry Pi, model A+ (left),version B+(right).
The differences similar to version B+
- A+ has 1 USB connector, while the B+ has 4.
- A+ has no Ethernet RJ5 slot.
- Board A+ is smaller, its dimensions are 65 x 56 mm
- A+ consumes less current: approx. 500mA (in peak up to 1.5 A).
The picture and sound
The Raspberry Pi hasHDMI of version 1.4, through which you can send picture and sound. In addition, the board was equipped with a 4-pin Jack 3.5 mm to connect headphones, speakers or display video through a standard RCA Composite. In our assortment, you will find the necessarywire Jack - RCA.
Operating system
A drive of the raspberry is a microSD memory card. The operating system can be uploaded via the computer with the reader. In our store are available cards with the installed NOOBs software which with the first activation enables choosing from the systems: Raspbian, Pidora Openelec, RaspBMC, RISC OS, Aarch Linux.
Communication
Raspberry has the main communication interfaces which can be found in office computers of PCclass. In addition to the previously listed connectors of audio and video, the user has at his or her disposal:
- USB connectors, to which you can connect, for example, a mouse, a keyboard, a wi-fi card or USB flash drive. If you find that the slots are too short, you can increase their number usingan external USB HUB.
- GPIO- outputs/inputs with general purpose that can be used to control the LEDs, buttons, driversof engines. Among them are the pins that support interfaces: I2C, SPI and UART. In version B+, the GPIO number was increased from 26 to 40.
Power
As a power source, the system uses the microUSB connector. In practice, this means that to run Rasbperry Pi, you can usethe charger for mobile phones with current of at least 1 A.
Accessories compatible with the version of A+
Most modules that use connectors of the GPIO (with the exception of Audio, e.g. Wolfson) will still work correctly with the new version of the raspberry. Devices that use USB ports (e.g. wifi) and HDMI ports, will be compatible. To version A+, it is also possible, connecting a dedicated camera:standard, dailyorNoir versionwithout the UV filter.
Accessories that would not work with version A+
Audio shields which use additional connectors (led-out as solderpads), will not work with the new version. Attempt to plug-in the GPIO cable 26-pin, will end with the bending of the connectors of the Raspberry A+. Changed was also the distance between the slots so the existing cases are not compatible with the model A+.
